Position Summary
Albany Engineered Composites is seeking a motivated Textile Engineering Intern to join our Research & Technology (R&T) team. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in advanced textile and composite materials development within a collaborative engineering environment.
The intern will assist in the design, analysis, and manufacturing of textile-based composite preforms used in high-performance aerospace applications. This includes exposure to woven textiles, and the equipment used to produce them.
Interns will receive guidance and mentorship from experienced engineers and will contribute to real-world projects in support of ongoing research and development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of textile preforms for composite structures through tasks such as characterization, mapping, and data collection of the complex 3D weaving process.
- Assist in textile design and analysis using CAD/CAE tools and simulation software (training provided as needed)
- Help document experimental methods, process steps, and test results in technical reports or presentations
- Participate in team meetings and provide progress updates to engineers and project leaders
- Collaborate with engineering staff to evaluate materials, processes, and equipment
- Follow all safety protocols and demonstrate a commitment to a safe working environment
