The Role
In this position, you will lead and develop a team of Power Systems Engineers responsible for the successful delivery of Generation Management System (GMS) applications within AspenTech’s Digital Grid Management (DGM) portfolio. The role requires strong technical leadership, operational discipline, and a solid understanding of power system operations in generation and transmission environments.Your Impact
Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing Power Systems Engineering team focused on quality delivery, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency in GMS implementations.
Lead the end-to-end delivery of GMS projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and quality standards.
Provide technical leadership in the configuration, tuning, and validation of key GMS applications, including:
Automatic Generation Control (AGC)
Economic Dispatch (ED)
Unit Commitment (UC)
Reserve Monitoring and Performance Tracking
Load Forecasting and Control Optimization
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and escalation point for the engineering team on technical design and integration issues.
Ensure GMS projects are engineered in compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and AspenTech DGM best practices.
Collaborate closely with global AspenTech/OSI engineering teams to share knowledge, align methodologies, and drive continuous improvement across regions.
Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new engineers to support team expansion in line with business growth.
Promote a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability within the team.
Oversee resource allocation and ensure appropriate staffing for project commitments, drawing from internal and external resources as needed.
Drive process optimization and standardization to improve project delivery efficiency and reduce engineering rework.
Maintain close engagement with customers throughout project lifecycles to ensure high-quality outcomes and alignment with operational needs.
Support development and maintenance of technical documentation, training materials, and reusable engineering assets for GMS delivery.
What You'll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred, with specialization in Power Systems or Energy Systems.
Minimum 5–8 years of experience in Power Systems Engineering, including exposure to GMS/EMS applications or related control center technologies.
At least 3–5 years of experience in a leadership or team management role within a technical engineering organization.
Strong understanding of generation operations, real-time system control, and grid optimization techniques.
Hands-on experience with OSI’s GMS platform or other AspenTech DGM applications strongly preferred.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
Commitment to customer satisfaction, team development, and continuous improvement.
Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer site visits, team coordination, and training.
