The Computational Action Lab, located in the Department of Psychology at CMU, has a mission to understand how humans master an almost limitless repertoire of movements, from brewing coffee to parallel parking. To achieve this, the lab uses a wide range of methods, including computational modeling, psychophysics, patient testing, and neuroimaging. We are seeking a Research Associate. This position will work closely with Jonathan Tsay and will be responsible for all facets of the research pipeline, including participant recruitment, data collection and analysis, project management, and writing/presenting findings from the project.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead human behavioral experiments to explore various aspects of human sensorimotor performance.
  • Conduct studies with neurologically healthy individuals and potentially those with neurological disorders.
  • Management and capturing of data
  • Lead and handle projects

Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in psychology, statistics, neuroscience, computer science, engineering, or other related fields.
  • Strong interpersonal and quantitative skills
  • Previous research and leadership experience
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills
  • Capability to manage multiple projects, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
