Title: Custodian III
Bargaining Unit/Salary Level: MSEA Support, Range 11 $20.54-$21.42
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Custodial Supervisor (Working Supervisor) responsible for both performing and overseeing custodial duties across campus facilities, including residence halls, classrooms, restrooms, stairwells, and other college buildings. This hands-on leadership role involves planning, coordinating, and supervising daily cleaning operations, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and participate in the cleaning and maintenance of campus facilities
- Coordinate custodial staff schedules and daily work assignments
- Maintain inventory and order cleaning supplies and equipment as needed
- Oversee the transport of supplies and equipment between buildings
- Keep basic records and ensure compliance with cleaning protocols and safety standards
- Work under general supervision, exercising independent judgment as needed
Minimum Qualifications: Duties require a minimum of three years’ experience and training in custodial and maintenance work including one year of supervisory experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of building cleaning methods, materials, equipment, and industry-standard sanitation practices
- Familiarity with custodial procedures and techniques to ensure cleanliness, safety, and hygiene across campus facilities
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and efficiently
- Understanding of and commitment to following college policies, procedures, and operational guidelines
- Ability to read and apply equipment specifications and follow safety and health regulations in daily custodial operations
