Job Title: Assistant Housekeeping Manager
Department: Housekeeping
Reports To: Director of Housekeeping
Schedule: Rotating Shifts (including weekends and holidays)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Housekeeping Manager to support and help lead our housekeeping operations across multiple shifts. This role plays a vital part in maintaining high cleanliness standards in guest rooms and public areas, while assisting in the supervision of room attendants, housepersons, and other housekeeping staff.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership abilities, a keen eye for detail, and thrives in a fast-paced, guest-first environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in supervising housekeeping team members during assigned shifts to ensure all guest rooms and public spaces meet cleanliness and brand standards.
- Conduct and support daily room and public area inspections for quality assurance.
- Help coordinate shift transitions and ensure smooth handovers between day, swing, and overnight teams.
- Assist in assigning daily room and area cleaning tasks based on staffing levels and occupancy.
- Support the team by helping with room cleaning and inspections during high-demand periods or when staffing is limited.
- Address guest requests and resolve room-related issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of housekeeping equipment and cleaning supplies.
- Help train, coach, and develop staff on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and service standards.
- Assist with inventory tracking of linens, guest supplies, and cleaning products.
- Contribute to a team culture that values cleanliness, efficiency, and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree or hospitality-related certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of housekeeping experience in a hotel or resort setting; 1 year of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Familiarity with housekeeping management systems such as: ALICE, Opera, or similar platforms.
- Physically able to perform housekeeping tasks (lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, bend, reach).
