Job Description:
Objective: The Medical Assistant supports physicians, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, and staff in coordinating the needs of patients.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Ensure patient satisfaction by providing excellent patients services. Addresses patients with a compassionate, friendly and caring attitude.
 - Rooms patients, accurately collect and records patients’ vital statistics, allergies, medications and concerns.
 - Prepares exam rooms, stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
 - Effectively assists with prescriptions and authorizing drug refill requests.
 
- Triage messages, routes and relays information to staff, providers, and patients in a timely manner.
 - Maintains detailed notes in patients’ electronic records.
 - Maintains a high level of confidentiality for patients in accordance to HIPAA standards.
 - Effectively maintains a professional demeanor with patients, staff, and physicians at all times.
 - Back up infusion room medical assistant duties.
 
- Effectively performs other duties as assigned
 
Pay range for this position is $21.00-$24.00 per hour.
Experience, Qualifications, Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
 - Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited education institution
 - Current CPR certification required
 - California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license
 - Four years of work experience in venipuncture
 - Must comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and office policies and protocols.
 - Knowledge of computer/telephony support, preferably in a health care environment
 - Strong customer service background, preferably in health care environment
 - Excellent verbal communication skills
 - Competence with computer processing functions and other standard office equipment
 - Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
 - Ability to calmly and professionally resolve customer issues with diplomacy and tact
 - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
 - Strong organizational skills
 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 - Visual acuity to read a computer screen and paper documents; close and distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
 - Hearing acuity to converse with staff and customers in person and by phone.
 - ability to stoop, bend, kneel, reach with hands, and lift and move 10 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 25 pounds occasionally; ability to sit for hours at a time.
