The Electromechanical Technician will be responsible for supporting the setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electromechanical systems within our analytical laboratory operations. This role provides hands-on experience with proprietary mechanical equipment, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment. The Electromechanical Technician will work closely with the IT team, directors and lab personnel to repair, test, and continuously improve material handling equipment and robotic systems throughout the facility. This role will have access to the latest tools and technology to build and maintain new automated mechanical and robotics systems sustaining departmental and industry growth.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Support of existing lab robotics and custom electrical proprietary systems
Support of Soils lab instrumentation
Support PLCs deployed
Build systems that include electrical, robotics, and mechanical
Maintain parts inventory
Test and manage electronic circuits
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
Provide documentation for system creation, duplication and repair
Serve as a liaison to company personnel and other internal parties with respect to controls equipment, instruments, and related systems
Ensures compliance with National Electrical Code and other applicable laws, codes, or regulations
Able to be on call for emergency issues
Requirements
Education and Training:
Associates degree in Electromechanical Engineering or related fields or related experience
Knowledge and skills:
Familiarity with industrial tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
The ability to read schematics or technical documentation
Project priority organization skills with a flexible approach to work efforts
Adaptive to new projects and technologies
Highly collaborative and communicative: projects and efforts will span multiple teams and/or departments
Experience:
Basic experience or technical training in electrical and mechanical maintenance
Physical Requirements:
Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment
Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (6 or more hours)
Ability to lift 25 pounds at times
Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the phone and in group setting
Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate reason, define problems and make valid judgement and decisions
