Masters degree in Education or related field; Successful experience working with high-risk Native American Youth; Successful administrative experience. Experience working effectively with AI/AN communities, with a strong understanding of cultural sensitivity and tribal government protocols.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (include, but not limited to) Under the supervision of the Bilingual Director, the Grant Director is a key administrative position responsible for the successful oversight, implementation, and management of three critical federal grants: the Native Youth Community Project (NYCP), the Teacher Preparation Grant, and the Administrator Preparation Grant. This role requires a dynamic leader with exceptional organizational skills, a deep commitment to student success in a rural context, and the ability to foster strong relationships with local schools, tribal governments (specifically the Navajo Nation), higher education partners, community organizations, and families. The Director ensures all grant activities comply with federal regulations, meet project objectives, and directly support the district's mission.
Knowledge of school programs and administrative and management principles. Working knowledge of budgetary principles. Ability to build effective partnerships across internal departments and with external community stakeholders. Ability to maintain composure and make sound decisions under pressure and take direction and constructive criticism. Ability to organize and implement new programs. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to diverse audiences (students, parents, staff, principals, and the School Board). Exceptional organizational, project management, and data management skills. Proficiency in utilizing various communication platforms, including social media and web-based tools, for outreach. Must be willing to travel within the district’s service area and occasionally for required grant meetings and conferences.
