Ingredion is hiring a Manager, Starch Chemistry to execute strategy and lead research activities of the Starch Chemistry group within Process Innovation in support of the next generation starch technologies. These starch-based technologies will be critical to driving growth of the Global Texture and Healthful Solutions business segment via increased adoption and commercialization success.

This role reports to the Senior Director, Process Innovation & Development

What you will do:

• Lead the development of new starch-based technologies aligned with the business segment’s strategic direction with broad application in targeted market and application segments addressing areas of highest value
• Anticipate customer & stakeholder needs and proactively engage with key stakeholders. Collaborate across functions to champion stakeholders’ agendas internally and draw connections between them and internal processes to identify ways to improve delivery
• Be a recognized steward of Intellectual Property and motivate individuals to take risks to test new concept ideas and learn from the experience
• Be well networked in academia and the industry and leverage open innovation platforms to access, evaluate and recommend the best technologies. Regular, recognized contributor to external scientific community
• Build, develop and empower a strong, diverse, high-performance team to consistently deliver with agility upon challenging technical and business goals by providing coaching, feedback and targeted training opportunities. Ensure that individual backgrounds, experiences and perspectives are respected and leveraged to enable equitable participation in project teams
• Build project management capabilities and demonstrate project management leadership including resource allocation aligned with project prioritization for an optimized portfolio of Discovery and New Product Development as well as Global Operations Support projects that balances risks/rewards

What you will bring:

• MS/PhD Degree in Chemistry/Food Science and Technology or equivalent, with 10+ years’ experience in R&D/product development
• Demonstrated ability to design and execute scientific research projects in the starch modification space
• Experience with driving development of proprietary technologies to realize technology strategies to create competitive advantages
• Excellence in knowledge management practices and knowledge sharing throughout an R&D organization
• Proven ability to build relationships and lead through influence navigating the complexity of a functional/global/regional matrix
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills

This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).

Incentive Compensation:

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
