Salary Range:    $24.20 - $25.20 Hourly

Description

Summary

The Cleanup Person is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment in the sawmill. This role supports the production team by performing essential cleaning tasks, assisting with minor maintenance, and complying with all company safety rules and regulations. The Cleanup Person works under the direction of the department supervisor and contributes to the overall efficiency of mill operations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • During production hours, clean accessible areas in the basement without entering hazardous zones.
  • During mill breaks, clean debris from drive chain and chain return areas.
  • At the end of each production shift, clean the barker, Head Rig, Edger, Trimmer, and resaw areas.
  • Ensure all wood debris is placed into conveyors before the end of the shift.
  • Review message board and check with mill supervisor for special project assignments.
  • Assist millwrights as requested.
  • Follow all lock-out/tag-out (LO/TO) procedures.
  • Report machinery defects and potential safety risks immediately.
  • Keep work areas clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Use downtime for cleanup and minor maintenance tasks.

  • Understanding of sawmilling fundamentals.
  • Strong communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Commitment to teamwork and supporting a safe work environment.
  • Willingness to work off-shifts and overtime when required.

 

Physical Demands

Employees must be able to:

  • Stand, walk, stoop, and bend frequently.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions for turning lumber.
  • Use hearing and speech effectively for communication.
  • Maintain peripheral vision and other vision requirements needed for safe operation.
