Sierra- Cedar is looking for a passionate Senior Payroll Specialist who has experience with an Enterprise Payroll application to join our small but fabulous team. No travel required, but this hybrid full-time opportunity does require you to come into our Alpharetta office at least 3 days a week, with the option to work remotely from your home the rest of the week.
In this role you will:
· Process the semi-monthly Payroll ensuring completeness and data integrity including ensuring that the Payroll register balances to journal and project costing data interfaces prior to payroll confirmation.
· Process Canadian Payroll through ADP interface
· Set up and administer new payroll taxes as needed and delivered through PeopleSoft Payroll tax updates and maintain payroll tax setup in ADP
· Maintain leave balances, review and adjust for accuracy
· Perform necessary PeopleSoft system maintenance to support the payroll process
· Research paycheck issues requested by employees and effectively communicate findings
· Produce and reconcile W-2’s to payroll records and general ledger, ensuring accuracy
· Maintain Employment Tax data in ADP. Reconcile all Federal, multi-state and local Payroll tax deposits between PeopleSoft and ADP
· Work with the State or Local tax agencies as needed to resolve tax payment issues
· Input Payroll changes as required and ensure changes are reflected appropriately in each Payroll
· Process all Accounts Payable vendor payments
· Complete the corporation’s “Right to do business” filings including follow-up and preparation of annual reports for each state
· Assist as required with annual workers comp audit
· Other accounting and general duties as assigned
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
· 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience
· Experience with PeopleSoft or another tier 1 payroll application
· Under general supervision, exercise judgment in the administration of records and preparation of documents
· Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Effectively identify problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to reach resolution
· Work cooperatively with others to solve problems
· Detail oriented and results driven – get things done.
· Microsoft Office required, including Excel
· PeopleSoft Payroll strongly preferred
· HR experience is a plus
