Position Summary:
This position is to support the operations department with janitorial and special projects functions. The Specialty Projects is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall appearance of designated areas within a facility or building throughout the day and plays a vital part in ensuring a clean and safe environment for occupants and visitors. The responsibilities encompass a wide range of janitorial tasks, and attention to detail and strong work ethics will contribute to the overall upkeep and positive image of the premises.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Execute work assignments as per verbal and/or written instructions.
- Maintain punctuality and attendance, as this role requires direct, face-to-face interactions.
- Perform regular cleaning and sanitization of common areas, lobbies, restrooms, break rooms, and other designated spaces following established cleaning protocols and schedules. Collect, empty, and properly dispose of trash and waste materials, ensuring that waste bins are always kept clean and sanitary.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, and ensure carpets are free from debris and stains. Promptly address spills or accidents to prevent slips and falls. Dust and wipe down surfaces, including furniture, windowsills, doors, and light fixtures, to maintain a neat and tidy appearance.
- Monitor and restock restroom supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizers. Ensure that restrooms are clean and well-maintained. Maintain the overall appearance of the facility by arranging furniture, tidying up common areas, lobbies, reception areas, and ensuring the absence of clutter.
- Be attentive to potential safety hazards or maintenance issues and report them promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide courteous and friendly customer service to occupants and visitors, assisting with their inquiries when needed.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and company policies while handling cleaning chemicals and operating equipment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Cleaning, repairing and maintenance of carpets and floors including but not limited to mopping, sweeping and dusting in compliance with SBM safety program.
- Use custodial equipment, supplies and take proper cleaning procedures for various floors and carpet maintenance.
- Maintain the cleanliness of windows in various settings, using tools like squeegees, ladders, and cleaning solutions. This includes cleaning interior and exterior windows, removing dirt and grime, and potentially operating high-rise equipment assigned by Supervisor.
- Future training on lifts and other equipment.
- Operates wet vacuum, auto scrubber, extractor, low/high pressure washer, high speed buffer, steam cleaner, and other equipment to properly clean and maintain floors and carpets.
- Must be willing to work in a variety of floor coverings (terrazzo, marble, wood, concrete, vinyl, etc.).
- Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor while interacting with clients, guests, and colleagues, providing excellent customer service throughout the event setup process.
- Attendance and punctuality are essential to the position as it requires onsite interaction.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of janitorial duties, cleaning techniques, products, and equipment is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety data sheets (SDS), operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean MVR.
- Must be able to follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English; Bilingual preferred.
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and commitment to achieving departmental goals.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and coworkers.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Available to commute to any SBM jobsites, as business needs.
Job Requirements:
- Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job site.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High school diploma/GED required OR equivalent work experience.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
- Extensive use of hands, reaching over and bending.
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Work in varying temperature environments.
