As the City’s newest Meter Technician II you will actively support and uphold the City’s stated mission and values. Meter Technicians are responsible for reading water meters, completing service orders including: investigating high water usage, billing edits, and turn on/offs. Technicians provide excellent customer service to all. Position Duties
EXAMPLES OF THE WORK PERFORMED (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY):
- Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Recommends water meter and register changeouts.
- Reads water meters (including reading meters electronically and visually) and preparing information for final upload into billing system
- Uses computer tablet and mobile radio collection device to obtain water meter readings for billing system
- Enters notes and observations into billing system work order software.
- Apply established collection settings to electronic radio transmitters (ERTs) at water meters.
- Performs ERT repairs.
- Carries out work orders (including account turn-ons, account turn-offs, check reads, lock-offs, customer requests, etc.)
- Communicate with customers regarding water usage and questions
- Advanced troubleshooting of water meters.
- Assists Meter Technicians as needed with advanced troubleshooting.
- Performs related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience reading and servicing meters.
- Two years of computer experience.
- Work history performing physical outdoor duties under adverse weather conditions.
- Basic electrical experience
- Or any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver's license.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
