POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Membership Director and Vice President of Operations and in accordance with the goals and objectives of the  Ascension St Vincent YMCA, the Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Child Watch and the Kids Zone. This position is primarily a frontline position with an average of 2 to 4 hours of admin per week.  Ensuring quality care in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment for children that utilize the YMCA Child Watch program. While working with staff to make sure they role model the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and work daily to develop personal and meaningful relationships with members, staff, and guests, while nurturing the potential of the children who utilize the service

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.
  • Complete the required abuse risk management training.
  • Adhere to the procedures associated to managing high-risk activities & supervising youth.
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
  • Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
  • Provide employees & volunteers with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk.
  • Provides leadership for the day-to-day operations of Child Watch and Kids Zone
  • Ensures staff provide a warm and welcoming environment
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and scheduling staff  
  • Supervise staff to ensure all processes and procedures are followed  
  • Responsible inventory & ordering supplies as well as rotating out toys.  
  • Monitors room access by properly documenting daily sign-in/out sheets.  
  • Attend Branch staff meetings & hold staff meetings at least quarterly for the department.
  • Provides membership information to members, guests, and prospective members, when able, or directs them to the member service desk.  
  • Helps solve problems when minor incidents and member complaints occur, and notifies the Membership Director or  VPO  when other incidents or accidents occur.
  • Report member and guest comments, suggestions, complaints, concerns, and problems to the supervisor promptly
  • Assist the Membership Director with variance reports and the budget by providing information for staffing and supply needs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen, and Bloodborne Pathogen training is required within 60 days of employment.
  • Child Abuse Prevention training is required before/on the first day of working with consumers.
  • Must have strong organizational and teaching skills ,including supervision, program development, and experience working with children and adults
  • Creativity, initiative, flexibility, and strong communication skills are essential.
