Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits provided to regular Board of Regents or Civil Service employees. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participate in professional development.
- Work with Apprenticeship Coordinator to review and/or update as necessary and applicable course content appropriate to Safety Training and Credentialing and the audience for which curriculum will be delivered to.
- Work with Apprenticeship Coordinator to determine, review, and/or update course materials, teaching aids, and tolls related to Safety.
- Determine and prepare course content.
- Prepare materials and supplies necessary for course execution.
- Work with the Apprenticeship Coordinator to determine course scheduling and delivery.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five-year full-time (equivalence) work experience in safety training, compliance and/or enforcement.
- Must have the ability to prequalify for the OSHA mandatory 5-year safety trainer prerequisite.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of OSHA.
- At least one year of experience working with adult and/or youth learners in an academic setting.
- Detail oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple duties with demanding deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate numerous projects at the same time.
- Familiar with the Hawaii Island community and its resources.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work nights and weekends, on occasion.
- Possess PC/Mac computer skills with commonly used professional software.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Possess OSHA trainer certification.
- Possess First Aid/CPR/AED trainer certificate.
- Experience working with community and industry.
- Demonstrated commitment and/or experience supporting the success of students.
