Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a motivated Banking and Bankruptcy Associate with 4+ years of experience to join our Banking and Financial Services, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights and Real Estate groups. The associate will support the firm’s clients in asset based loan negotiations, documentation, restructuring, workouts, commercial real estate loan and other business transactions. The role includes assisting with various aspects of corporate bankruptcy proceedings, corporate M&A transactions and commercial property transactions. This position offers hands-on experience across a variety of transactional and bankruptcy matters and provides opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the negotiation, documentation, and closing of a wide range of loan transactions, including asset based lending, commercial real estate financing and middle market lending.
- Support clients in restructuring, workouts, and bankruptcy matters.
- Assist in due diligence, loan review, and the preparation of transactional documents and bankruptcy filings.
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, contracts, motions, and other transactional or bankruptcy-related documents.
- Support clients in the purchase, sale, and financing of corporate mergers and acquisitions and commercial properties.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth transaction execution and client support.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admitted to practice in NJ, with multi-state (especially NY) licensing a plus.
- 4+ years of experience in banking, finance, corporate, real estate, or bankruptcy law.
- Experience with loan documentation, workouts, bankruptcy and commercial real estate transactions preferred.
- Strong analytical, drafting, and research skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.
- Excellent communication skills with attention to detail and client service.
Compensation & Benefits: This position offers a salary range of $140,000 - $180,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications. Attorneys may also be eligible for discretionary year-end bonuses, merit-based increases, and origination credit. The posted salary range reflects the base pay range for this position.
