This role is located at our Pennsauken, NJ location.
WHAT WE NEED
The Machine Operator II will safely operate machinery with maximum efficiency, while maintaining product quality and following regulatory and company guidelines for sanitation and safety. A successful individual will have basic mechanical aptitude, desire to learn how to operate food packaging equipment, ability to follow clearly written instructions, and willingness to grow and develop in the manufacturing field. Strong communication skills and team player attitude are a must.
Our Production Team follows a 2-2-3 shift schedule, providing a consistent routine for work-life balance. Shift hours for this role are 5:45am - 6:00pm.
Sample 2-2-3 Shift Schedule:
Week 1: Work Monday, Tuesday - Off Wednesday, Thursday - Work Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Week 2: Off Monday, Tuesday - Work Wednesday, Thursday - Off Friday, Saturday, Sunday
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Operate machinery, to include machine set-up, operation, change overs, and troubleshooting, to detect product (raw or finished) defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.
- Maintain GMP (good housekeeping) standards at and around machinery.
- Perform SOPs for machinery in assigned area.
- Cross training or training on equipment as defined by the manager.
- Maintain accurate documentation.
- Maintain and issue raw materials into assigned work orders.
- Work in a safe manner, consistent with company safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain good attendance records according to company policy.
- Report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Ensure that line conditions are acceptable to change from one product to another by evaluating that materials, paperwork, and equipment have been staged for changeover and notify Maintenance if repairs are needed, share continuous improvement ideas if applicable.
- Helps drive 5S standards.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Required Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 6 months’ previous work experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Preferred Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of work instruction and SOP assessments as introduced by the company.
- Proficient in operating up to 2 production machines, including operation, set-ups, changeovers and troubleshooting of multiple machines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Continuous learning, and improvement, mindset is a must; there are many opportunities to learn and develop at BRF, but the individual needs to be motivated to engage in those opportunities.
- Effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Willingness to offer suggestions on ways to improve assigned work.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (bump cap, hair net, ear plugs, beard net (if applicable), Kevlar gloves, safety glasses and leather, skid resistant work shoes/boots.
- Ability to use various hand tools (knife, water house, band cutters, can opener, scales, Telnet scanners, various small hand tools as required for position/product testing).
- Previous experience operating a forklift (for applicable work areas).
- Lock out/tag out certified.
- Team player and constructive conflict management are key skills for success.
- Self-starter and disciplined.
- Punctuality is a must.
