JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description The Sergeant at Arms is seeking a detail-oriented, service-driven professional to serve as Assistant State Office Liaison within the State Office Operations department. This dynamic role supports U.S. Senators and their staff in acquiring, managing, and maintaining state office spaces across the country. The Assistant State Office Liaison is responsible for overseeing lease negotiations, resolving tenant and lease-related issues, and ensuring full compliance with federal office space regulations and budgetary guidelines. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing complex relationships with the General Services Administration (GSA) and other federal partners to coordinate office space acquisition and modifications. Key responsibilities include: The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. Knowledge of federal leasing procedures, budget compliance, and facility operations is strongly preferred. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the operational needs of Senate state offices and contributing to the continuity of legislative operations.
Key Accountabilities/Essential Job Duties
Coordinates and guides Senators and their staff in the acquisition and negotiation of leases for commercial and federal office space, and mobile offices, in the home state. Investigates issues and resolves conflicts regarding lease discrepancies, rent and/or tenant improvement increases and payment status in home state offices. Administers audits of home state offices to maintain compliance of Senate statute for square footage, parking, and rental rates/maximums. Provides input on the annual budget, ensuring commercial rents and costs associated with Federal Office Occupancy Agreements remain within budgeted amounts for the department. Provides oversight, review, and approval for allowances, purchase orders, and requisitions related to home state office expenses. Manages the relationship with the General Services Administration (GSA) Congressional Program; ensuring the GSA personnel and SAA departments provide services and support to the home state offices; and oversees the provision and purchase of furniture, furnishings, and space alterations to the home state offices by GSA. Reviews, audits, and processes GSA federal invoices and monthly commercial and mobile office rental payments; coordinates GSA work orders for SAA signature. Conducts bi-annual surveys to determine the suitability of current office conditions for incoming Senator-elects and to assess compliance of SAA security requirements. Conducts one-on-one briefings for Senator-elects and their staff on potential office selection and the role of State Office Operations (SOO). Other duties as assigned.

1. Be a U.S. citizen;
2. Be lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)(B);
3. Be (i) admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157 or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. § 1158 and (ii) have filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible; or
