ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Manager of Operational Excellence role is an integral part of the Business Operations and Strategy Team reporting to the Internal Medicine Chief Scientific Officer, focusing on establishing Pfizer's Internal Medicine’s AI-Driven Cardiometabolic Drug Discovery Institute.  The position partners with IM leadership to build a collaborative ecosystem that integrates internal capabilities and scientific research with AI and external innovation, where breakthrough ideas can develop into new and differentiated medicines.

This role will work closely with IM leadership to shape and articulate both scientific and business strategies, serves as a liaison between scientific and business, and leads business operations function for the AICMD institute.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with executive leadership to co-develop and refine both scientific and business strategies that align with the objectives set by the IMRU Chief Scientific Officer (CSO), serving as a strategic and thought partner to ensure alignment and impact
  • Lead management of all internal and external communications, including executive briefings, strategic narratives, business plans, investor communications, as well as town halls and key events as appropriate
  • Prepare high-quality executive briefings, strategic narratives, business plans, and investor communications within established timelines
  • Lead meeting agendas, prepare business reviews, presentation material collation, and meetings/event management
  • Act as Institute Compliance POC to ensure that all necessary trainings and compliance metrics are met
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with senior leadership and stakeholders to drive efficient project execution and achieve goals
  • Establish and maintain performance metrics to measure program success
  • Act as a strategic liaison at the intersection of science and business, facilitating effective collaboration between internal research and development teams and external innovation networks
  • Communicate collaboration status to senior leaders and act as a champion for the asset to ensure appropriate resources (budget and FTEs) are secured and deployed to facilitate delivery of the collaboration plan.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS with 6+ years of experience in a pharma and/or biotech environment
  • Knowledge of scientific and strategic operations and industry-academic alliance management
  • Broad understanding of cardiometabolic disease biology
  • Proven experience supporting executive leaders in shaping, articulating, and communicating vision and strategy with clarity
  • Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to craft executive-level briefings and reports
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional processes and to meet established deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills with high levels of energy
  • Work independently with ability to seek solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to plan, implement and achieve complex goals and objectives in a matrix environment
  • Experience with relevant digital tools including SharePoint; Proficiency in Microsoft tools including Excel, PowerPoint and Word

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA/MS or advanced degree with 3+ years of experience pharmaceutical or biotech environment
  • Familiarity with Pfizer organizations and processes
  • In-depth expertise and experience in end-to-end drug development value chain, especially in the cardiometabolic disease and AI-driven approaches
  • Exceptional project and stakeholder management skills
  • Track record of successfully working effectively with multidisciplinary teams in collaborative environments
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating the environment of a highly matrix-based organization

Work Location Assignment: This is a hybrid role requiring you to live within commuting distance and work on-site an average of 2.5 days per week.


The annual base salary for this position ranges from $112,700.00 to $187,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
