Hands of Heartland is looking for compassionate and caring individuals to work with the people we support as an in-home Direct Support Professional (DSP). We are hiring for multiple DSP positions in South Sioux City, NE and the surrounding area.
What You’ll Do: Work directly with people with developmental disabilities assisting and supporting them with day to day living activities.
- As an In-Home DSP and DSP in general you will support individuals with planned individual-focused or group-based activities. You will support individuals with activities in a home environment and in community settings including meal planning, grocery shopping, or household chores while providing compassionate and respectful assistance to help them live as independently as possible. Other requirements include the following. You must display a strong sense of professionalism since you will be going into other people’s homes. Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, mobility, and meal preparation, based on the individual’s level of need. Support the individual in developing and maintaining skills, which could include money management, household chores, self-advocacy, and communication. Based on individual's needs, goals, and support plan. Implement goals and objectives from the individual’s person-centered support plan and document progress using an web-based system as required. Monitor and promote the individual’s health and well-being while following safety protocols. Encourage social interaction and community inclusion through meaningful activities and relationship building. Ability to work independently in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Flexible and willing to adapt to change. Know the value of communication. Desire to support people and encourage them to reach goals.
- As a Job Coach/ DSP you will support individuals with developmental disabilities in a variety of job settings to ensure they have meaningful employment. You will assist individuals on the job and provide training as needed for the job. Must communicate with employers in a professional manner. Advocate for the individual on work related issues that may arise. Collaborate with the employer to create natural supports on the job. Other requirements include the following. Ability to work independently in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Flexible and willing to adapt to change. Know the value of communication. Desire to support people and encourage them to reach goals. Understand the importance of documentation and use a web-based system to document as required. Ability to met the physical requirements of a Job Coach, which could include lifting up to 75 lbs. as needed.

Requirements for All Positions:
- All positions require you to transport individuals in a motor vehicle. You must have reliable transportation with valid auto insurance.
- Mileage reimbursement available.
- Must be 18 years old.
- Must be able to pass all background checks.
- Experience preferred although not required- we will train you!
Shifts & Hours Needed:
- Days, Evenings, Overnights with every other weekend.
- Flexible scheduling is available as some shift hours may vary depending upon the individual's needs.
Pay: $16 an hour is starting pay. We pay more for experience and if you have a CNA license. Incentives also available.
