This role plays a meaningful part in helping families feel supported through thoughtful and personalized memorial displays. Responsible for designing, assembling, and implementing personalized event displays that honor the life and memory of the deceased. Works closely with Funeral Directors and support staff to understand the family’s wishes and translate them into meaningful visual presentations for visitations, funeral services, and receptions. Prepares photo displays, memory tables, and themed décor, and ensures all display elements are professionally arranged and ready for services. Supports event setup and contributes to a respectful, comforting environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Display Planning & Execution

  • Collaborates with Funeral Director to understand the family’s wishes and vision for event displays
  • Plans and creates event displays including tables, décor, photos, memorabilia, signage, and related visual elements
  • Reviews contract and event details to determine display needs
  • Gathers materials and sets up displays at funeral, visitation, reception, or graveside services
  • Coordinates with internal staff to ensure necessary resources (tables, easels, linens, props) are available
  • Assembles photo boards, memory tables, and themed visual arrangements based on family direction
  • Scans photos, organizes and arranges personal items or mementos for display
  • Assists in coordinating or creating multimedia presentations (e.g., slideshows, music playlists) when needed
  • Works with support staff for event setup and takedown; may assist with light event support as needed
  • On-site during events to finalize display details and assist with any last-minute needs
  • Ensures all displays are respectful, personalized, and aligned with the family’s expectations

Administration

  • Maintains inventory of display supplies and materials
  • Collaborates with vendors and internal teams to source display-related items (e.g., décor, signage, frames)
  • Documents best practices and contributes to a reference guide for display planning (Display Playbook)
  • Provides feedback and identifies areas for improvement in display process or presentation
  • Supports the team with occasional administrative tasks related to events or displays
  • Additional responsibilities as requested or assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Associate’s degree in hospitality, design, visual arts, or related discipline preferred. Two (2) years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Licenses

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Experience

  • Experience in event planning, display design, or a similar role is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong creative and visual presentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management
  • Compassionate, professional, and able to work in emotionally sensitive environments
  • Creative thinker with ability to personalize and adapt displays
  • Comfortable working with photos, personal items, and sensitive materials
  • Computer literate and proficient with MS Office
  • Ability to use proprietary software to manage tasks and photos

Work Conditions

Work Environment

  • Work is primarily indoors, but includes outdoor work in all seasons and weather
  • Professional attire required when in contact with families

Work Postures

  • Frequent standing or walking for periods up to 6 hours
  • Frequent lifting, bending, and reaching during display setup
  • Climbing stairs to access buildings or event spaces as needed

Work Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry light to moderately heavy items
  • Requires manual dexterity including use of hands for scanning, setup, light lifting, and use of office equipment

Work Hours

  • Flexible schedule required, including nights and weekends when most services occur
  • Typically, less than 20 hours a week
  • Some local travel to event locations may be required
