About the Unit

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager - Southeast, the Sales Agronomist has responsibility for Yara’s sales activities related to a territory within specified crop segments. The Sales Agronomist will partner with local retailer locations, crop consultants and farmers to create demand for Yara’s crop nutrition solutions. The Sales Agronomist will work in close cooperation with marketing and agronomy teams to actively promote and sell Yara’s crop nutrition solutions. 

 

The Sales Agronomist will be responsible for managing territory throuout Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee, and the position holder must be based within this region.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and Sell Yara Solutions:
    • Market and sell a range of crop nutrition products including fertilizers (macro and micronutrients), foliar nutritional’s, and bio stimulants.
    • Present scientifically sound product recommendations based on field trials, lab results, and agronomic research.
    • Provide presence for Yara crop nutrition programs at retail local level as well as at farm level.
  • Provide Technical Expertise in Crop Nutrition:
    • Advise growers and retailers on optimal nutrient management practices tailored to specific crops, soil types, and growth stages.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot nutrient deficiencies, imbalances, and soil fertility issues through field visits and data analysis.
    • Recommend appropriate product rates, timings, and application methods.
  • Build and Maintain Strong Farmer Relationships:
    • Develop trust-based relationships with growers by consistently delivering value through agronomic support and technical advice.
    • Provide seasonal guidance and be available for in-field support when needed.
  • Support On-Farm Product Demonstrations and Trials:
    • Plan, implement, and monitor product trials to demonstrate efficacy and build local data.
    • Collect, analyze, and present trial results to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Achieve Sales and Territory Growth Targets:
    • Meet individual sales goals and contribute to regional business objectives.
    • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand market share in the assigned territory.
  • Monitor Market Trends and Competitor Activity:
    • Stay informed on competitor products, pricing, and agronomic approaches in the crop nutrition space.
    • Provide feedback on market dynamics to sales management and marketing teams.
  • Maintain Accurate Records & Reporting:
    • Document customer visits and sales activities using OneView.
    • Provide regular updates and insights to the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or Agriculture related field. Master's degree may be an advantage.
  • 1-3 years working experience in similar roles and industries, preferably with value added fertilizers exposure and digital tools experience.
  • Experience holding presentations for small or large audiences.
  • CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) is preferred.
  • Ability to travel extensively (75%) requiring a valid driver’s license.
  • Highly skilled in the following areas: business orientation, market and product knowledge, organization and planning, communication and influencing, customer service and interpersonal communication.
  • Proficient in MS office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, as well as digital tools, such as Twitter, and Facebook. 

Additional Information

  • The position holder must:
    • Hold valid driver´s license.
    • Be able to travel up to 75%.
    • Drive safely to necessary appointments (short or long distances). Driving is a substantial part of position holder's time.
    • Stand, at times for long periods (i.e. presentations, trade show booths).
    • Walk necessary distances, in even or uneven surfaces (i.e. farmer fields).
    • Bend and reach material (i.e. inspection of soils and crops, taking soil, tissue, and harvest samples).
    • Lift bags or jugs, set up and dismantle different apparatus (i.e. demonstration trials, show booths).
    • Read and utilize computer and other relevant work material.
    • Live in the territory: Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee.
    • Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the U.S.
