Day to day as an Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Program Specialist

As the IDD Services Division's Program Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in managing and supervising essential training needs while developing and executing a comprehensive Utilization Management plan tailored to Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). You will lead the creation of division-level training curricula, conducting necessary workshops for new and existing employees on topics such as DD Waiver and Person-Centered Planning. Your responsibilities include overseeing treatment teams to ensure adherence to quality assurance standards, developing program-specific training, and coordinating with external agencies to enhance in-service training. You'll actively participate in meetings aimed at identifying ongoing training needs and compliance issues while maintaining a robust quality management plan to guarantee that every client receives premier care.

Additionally, monitoring treatment regimens and conducting audits to ensure licensure and Medicaid standards are met will be critical to your role. Join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with IDD!

What you need to be successful

To excel as an IDD Program Specialist at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, a strong foundation in Human Services is essential, requiring a Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field and three (3) years of experience in training development, case management, utilization review, or quality assurance within an IDD/DS setting. May have a Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with seven (7) years of related work experience.

The knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field
  • Three (3) years of experience in training development, case management, utilization review, or quality assurance within an IDD/DS setting.

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with seven (7) years of related work experience.

  • Valid Driver's License
