Summary of Position:

The Assistant Construction Manager is responsible for supporting the Construction Manager's profitable execution of the projects under his/her management including safe, on-time, on-budget completion, adherence to corporate and contract compliance, quality control, and customer satisfaction.  You will be assisting with the management of projects including, but not limited to: Retail, Restaurants, Battery, Energy Generation, Solar, and EV Charging.  As part of a multi-disciplined firm, you will be coordinating with MEP, Structural Engineers, Site/Civil Engineers, and Architects.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Construction Manager to monitor project management compliance with reporting related to corporate policy and the contract documents.  
  • Accept projects from the estimating department at budget transfer.  Assist in managing the buyout process in a cost-effective and timely manner, while meeting minority participation and company requirements.   Assist with reviewing all construction contracts.  Assist with overseeing the contract change process.
  • Assist with the assignment of project teams to projects, matching their skill and experience levels, to ensure profitable performance consistent with company objectives and policies.   
  • Ensure the margin analyses are accurate and timely.  Dig deep to mitigate potential losses and enhance profitability. 
  • Review the schedule and weekly narrative to ensure the project is tracking for on-time completion.
  • Visit each project site on a scheduled and regular basis to remain updated on construction activities. 
  • Review the safety training program and the safety procedures for the projects under his/her management regularly to ensure that an effective program is being conducted.  Review and mitigate safety trends.  Conduct thorough “root cause” investigations on any accidents. 
  • Elevate and coordinate all legal matters involving construction to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction.  This will be reviewed based on repeat business and client references.  
  • Manage adherence to the corporate policies, project reporting requirements and contract documents.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction-related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
  • 2+ years of construction experience, preferably as an Assistant Construction Manager or similar position; experience with short-term projects ($1.5 million and smaller) preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office, MS Project preferred.


Team:

You will work with a Construction Coordinator, Estimators, Project Managers and other construction professionals and report to a Senior Construction Manager.


Work Location:

This is a hybrid role that can sit out of either our Ontario, CA, Tampa, FL or Somerville, NJ office. The expectation is that you'll be in the office a minimum of 1 day a week.
