Registered Nurse – Nursing Supervisor Travel Position

Location: York, ME
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Rotating – 3×12 (One Night & Two Day Shifts, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM / 7:00 PM–7:30 AM) with Call Rotation
Pay: $2,322/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Position Summary

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced and motivated Nursing Supervisor (RN) for a 13-week travel leadership assignment in York, Maine. The Nursing Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing hospital operations during assigned shifts, ensuring safe and effective patient care across all departments while providing leadership and crisis management support to clinical teams.

This position requires a confident leader with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. The Supervisor is responsible for coordinating resources, managing staffing, and maintaining hospital flow while fostering collaboration between nursing units and support departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for hospital operations, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care throughout all departments.
  • Monitor and coordinate urgent care, emergency, inpatient, and operative services to ensure continuous availability and efficient flow.
  • Supervise nursing staff across multiple units, addressing immediate concerns and facilitating effective communication between departments.
  • Integrate data from electronic systems, direct communication, and unit rounds to assess patient care delivery and operational effectiveness.
  • Allocate and redirect resources based on patient acuity, census, staffing levels, and skill mix to maintain quality and safety.
  • Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure appropriate bed placement and optimal utilization of hospital capacity.
  • Act as a key liaison between administration, nursing directors, and clinical teams during periods of high census or emergent situations.
  • Collaborate with the Emergency Department, Surgery, Critical Care, and Inpatient Units to manage throughput and resolve barriers to patient care.
  • Provide leadership during crisis management, interpreting and enforcing hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in call rotation and serve as the administrative representative during assigned shifts.

Qualifications

  • Active Maine RN license or Compact State RN license (required).
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN required; MSN preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive management or leadership experience (required).
  • 5 years of management or leadership experience preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Charge Nurse, Unit Coordinator, Manager, or Director (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of hospital operations, staffing coordination, and patient flow management.
  • Required Certifications (AHA):
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • Proven ability to manage crisis situations with sound judgment and calm leadership.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed).
  • Recent tuberculosis (TB) test required.
