Bunzl North America is looking for a Business Insights Specialist to support the sustainability team in St. Louis, MO.

This role will support the delivery of our sustainability value proposition by building product data models, analyzing data and creating tailored reports for customers with actionable insights and product transition plans.

This is not a remote position. Relocation is not being offered.

Responsibilities

We need you to help deliver our value proposition effectively to our customers and there are three key responsibilities for this role:

Customer engagement

  • Engage with customers to understand their perspectives, inform product decisions and convert sales to products that meet their needs.
  • Create a new process to respond to customer sustainability inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Develop, maintain or adapt existing tools to assess the sustainability impact of product portfolios and align products with legislation.
  • Create powerful customer reports, dashboards and presentations to show the value of embedding sustainability practices and products into customers’ businesses.

Data Analysis and Planning

  • Support customer product data reporting requests.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to uncover insights that inform product improvements, customer engagement strategies, and business growth opportunities.
  • Create clear, actionable transition plans to support product evolution, sunsetting, and migration, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum value for customers.
  • Track and report on progress toward sustainability goals and key performance indicators.

Internal Engagement

  • Advise Bunzl businesses on sustainability standards and regulations throughout the product development and selection process.
  • Effectively collaborate with colleagues in ESG reporting, category management, marketing, and sales teams to deliver the objectives above.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in business, business analytics or related disciplines 
  • 5+ years of experience in a corporate business setting 
  • Advanced Excel and data analytics skills 
  • Strong, proven analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
  • A self-starter with the ability to prioritize stakeholder inquiries and projects to meet tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of standard industry practices in sustainable packaging and/or sustainable products is a plus
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Curiosity and exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple assignments and has great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels

Preferred Requirements

  • MBA 
  • A keen interest in sustainability or sustainability / ESG experience
  • PowerBI experience.
  • Experience in category management or working with category managers strongly preferred.
  • Experience in packaging, product development and/or lifecycle assessments 
  • Knowledge of standard industry practices in sustainable packaging and/or sustainable products.
