Overview:

We are currently looking to hire a Business Systems Manager - PLM Administrator! In this role you'll lead a team to help meet customer needs with Engineering documentation, be the technical owner for Engineering data and processes, and grow, mentor and inspire team members. Projects will focus on data management, workflow development and improvements, CAD creation and management, and process enhancements. 

 

 

Responsibilities:

The Sr. Business Systems Manager - PLM Administrator is tasked with responsibilities in four key areas:

  • Owning the software and administration of Engineering Documentation Software – mainly SolidWorks and PTC’s Windchill
  • Being the expert for the Engineering MCAD design software and PLM
  • Managing a team assigned with the creation & maintenance of models and drawings within SolidWorks and housed within Windchill
  • Own the Change Management process and integration into the ERP/MRP system

Leadership Accountabilities:

  • As the owner of the PLM system, ensure that the system meets the needs of the broader organization
  • Own the Engineering Change Management process which is administered through PLM
  • Lead the CAD design group ensuring accuracy with BOM’s, 3D models, and Engineering Drawings

Execution:

  • Ensure the Engineering Systems are running in a stable manner – minimizing downtime and issues that could interrupt operations
  • Provide leadership for the CAD group by providing guidance and direction on the drawing quality, model quality and BOM structure
  • Be hands-on with your team to drive through project obstacles, solve problems, and be accountable for project KPI’s 
  • Lead the relationship with outside vendors providing support for the PLM software as well as the SolidWorks system

Process:

  • Oversee the planning, organize and manage work plans of the design team.
  • Gain expertise with the ERP system and provide guidance and direction on the creation of the parts & bills of materials.
  • Provide input to project budget, resource identification, and schedules
  • Provide ongoing guidance and direction to the CAD design team to ensure operational and technical excellence
  • Provide status and information to keep stakeholders informed and engaged of progress, status on key activities.
  • Provide prompt communication to stakeholders on important event occurrences.

Technical:

  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues with the CAD design and PLM systems and provides technical support.
  • Be the subject matter expert on SolidWorks and Windchill.
  • Support manufacturing and operations – especially in the delivery of drawings, change management, and other relevant design data.
  • Ensure quality of BOM’s transferred into the ERP system.
  • As needed, provide product and process expertise.
  • Identify opportunities for increased workflow efficiencies and best practices.
  • Hire, train and supervise design team.
  • Inspires and motivates design team through building relationships and consistently communicating business objectives and updates.
  • Provides designers with clear and consistent direction with regards to goals and objectives, standards, and schedules
Qualifications:
  • Highly skilled in the Administration of CAD and PLM software – preferably SolidWorks and Windchill, respectively.
  • Experienced with and passionate about leading, managing and mentoring teams
  • Experienced with and passionate about leading, managing and PLM and Engineering Documentation systems through PLM
  • Experienced with manufacturing ERP/MRP systems and the interaction with PLM systems
  • Ability to read and generate specifications and drawings including physical, operational, reliability, and performance; the ability to prepare creative multiple solutions to problems presented. 
  • A minimum of 10 years of combined experience in CAD and PLM administration.
  • A minimum of an associates degree in a related field, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Adept at overseeing multiple ongoing projects

  • Have 3+ years managing a team of at least 5 individuals
  • Ability to use, Excel, Word, and Power Point.  
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment, preferred but not required
  • Statistical skills (means, standard deviations, power, and sampling); preferred but not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organizational skills.
