JOB SUMMARY
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for managing routing and transportation for all business units and customers. Duties will include developing a team of routing coordinators and floor associates. Manage routing reports and invoicing end-of-day operations, and efficiently communicate updates to our business units' leadership teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for ensuring timely routing of various customers such as Big Box, Majors, Off Price or International
- Ensure team is successful in routing accurately, coordinating with carriers or freight forwarders to schedule pickups in time to meet business needs and end-of-month goals
- Oversee Shipping Schedule accuracy and ensure the report is published on time daily to ensure teams can manage work based on priorities
- Ensure accurate and strong communication, email etiquette, and relationship skills with both internal/external customers
- Manage the successful processing of the Routing Report, and details are being calculated accurate details for outbound freight
- Experience with customer routing guides, routing request timelines, and INDC/MABD
- Ensure the team maintains a focus on shipping on the start date, route in time to meet cancel dates, communicate aging POs, manage INDC's, and prioritizes accordingly
- Collaborate with the team and other departments to ensure POs are packed to ship on time
- Ensure shipped orders are invoiced at the end of the shift, and all documentation is sent accordingly
- Create and maintain shared detailed routing SOPs for customers
- Communicate with management any ongoing opportunities and escalate risk
- Ensure proactive communication with Customer Service and Wave teams for extensions, issues with routing or carrier delays
- Tracks shipments as needed and communicates information internally
- Determine the best mode of transportation for shipments
- Proactive in reviewing priorities to ensure ship windows are met
- Create and maintain export documents for International shipments
- Generate, update, print, and upload Bills of Ladings
- Research chargebacks, root cause with teams to correct for future and provide updates
- Support in obtaining POD’S/BOL’S from carriers as needed for auditors
- Cross-train and develop team to manage workload successfully, support in other areas based on business needs or in other departments
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Ensure safe work practices are exercised
- Support the shipping and transfer process for business units operating out of 3PL
- Evaluate current practices and create ways to increase efficiency or innovate
Requirements
- Ability to make sound decisions quickly in any situation.
- Flexibility to adjust to new information or circumstances.
- Effectively communicating with both internal and external customers.
- Flexibility to work OT, Saturdays, and Holidays to meet business needs
EXPERIENCE
- 3-5 years of experience in routing/shipping operations
- Experience with Vendor Compliance Routing guides and requirements.
- Microsoft Excel and WMS experience (other ERP systems a plus)
- Experience with routing in portals for customers such as Costco, Walmart, Target, Nordstrom, Bloomindale’s, Ross, and Burlington
- Experience with LTL portals (TMS) and small parcel shipments
- Experience leading teams of 10+ associates, encouraging teamwork, and demonstrating a positive mindset.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the day. Lifting, pushing, pulling, or moving cartons up to 50 lbs.
- Work in cooler and heated conditions based on the time of year
- Ability to operate equipment such as forklifts, riders, and pallet jacks.
