Crest View Senior Communities is a faith-based, not for profit organization looking for positive and compassionate Life Enrichment Assistant to serve older adults.
This position is currently full-time, 32 hours/week. Required shifts Wednesday - Saturday 10am-6pm.

Position Summary: To develop and implement Therapeutic Recreation programs for the Crest View Lutheran Home. To participate with all members of the interdisciplinary team to provide quality care for all residents.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Development and implementation of Therapeutic Recreation programs to meet the leisure, social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs of residents.
- Provide 1:1 programming and documentation of this programming to residents who are in need.
- Assist residents in pursuing leisure activities of their choice in large and small groups and on an individual basis. Track resident participation in events.
- Plan and participate in outings away from the building. Obtain and maintain a class “B” commercial driver’s license.
- Provide monthly calendar for all residents and each department in a timely basis.
- Collate and distribute Crest View monthly newsletter.
- Work with Life Enrichment Staff, other team members, and other Crest View volunteers to provide maximum benefit to residents.
- In the event of Staff calling in absent for the day, coordinate with the Director and other staff/volunteers so that all groups are covered.
- Attend and participate in departmental staff meetings.
- Participate in seminars, in-services, and continuing education as assigned by the Director of Life Enrichment.
- Assist with seasonal decorating as assigned by the Life Enrichment Director.
- Participate and assist in departmental projects and special events and complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Life Enrichment.
Qualifications
General Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have education and/or job experience in life enrichment, therapeutic recreation/activities, or another related topic.
- Must have experience and passion for working with older adults; experience working with individuals with dementia preferred.
- Experience creating recreational programs is a plus.
- Must be able to communicate verbally, electronically, and in writing without grammatical or spelling errors.
- Must work well with others as a team and be able to work flexible hours. The job will require some evenings and weekends.
- Must have or be able to obtain a class “B” commercial driver’s license and be willing to drive the community van, meeting all requirements of driving.
Physical Qualifications:
- Sufficient hearing and speech to communicate in a way that may be clearly understood by residents, staff, volunteers, family members, and able to understand communication of others.
- Sufficient vision to be able to document and maintain records, create newsletters and calendars, and drive the community’s van.
- Must have the ability to lift, pull, or push up to 50 pounds, and the ability to push wheelchairs and geri-chairs to and from activity groups, arrange and move furniture (chairs, tables, etc), and to fully participate in facility outings that require a great deal of bending, stretching and lifting to assist ambulatory residents, wheelchair residents, and some wheelchair transferring in regard to using wheelchair safety straps and moving residents around facility van.
- Must receive and apply education received to manage residents with behaviors and other challenging health conditions.
- Must be flexible and able to change and to with the ever-changing needs of the residents.
