YMCA - Part-Time Position (+29 hours/week)
Position Overview
The YMCA is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Before and After School Childcare Teacher to join our team. This position provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for school-age children before and after their regular school day. The ideal candidate will be passionate about youth development and committed to supporting children's social, emotional, and academic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage children ages 5-12 in a safe, structured environment
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities including arts and crafts, games, homework assistance, and recreational activities
- Assist children with homework and provide academic support as needed
- Maintain accurate attendance records and incident reports
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and YMCA team members
- Ensure all children follow program rules and safety guidelines
- Prepare and serve snacks following health and safety protocols
- Maintain clean and organized program spaces
- Support children's social and emotional development through positive guidance techniques
Schedule
- Hours: 25-29 hours per week
- Morning Shift: Approximately 6:15 AM - 9:00 AM (before school)
- Afternoon Shift: Approximately 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM (after school)
- Days: Monday through Friday during the school year
- Additional hours may be available during school holidays and summer programs
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or related field
- Experience in before/after school programs or similar childcare settings
- Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) a plus
- Youth sports or activity leadership experience

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Capacity to sit, stand, walk, and move around frequently
- Ability to participate in active play with children
- Visual and auditory ability to supervise children effectively
