POSITION SUMMARY:

TheGeneral Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repairs on equipmentand buildings. Requires practical skill and knowledge of trades, such aspainting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, HVAC, and electrical work.

Workinvolves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptaclesand switches, light fixtures, and motors, changes filters and fan belts, usingplaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings,repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structuresand equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks,replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing doorlocks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance onequipment and machinery.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate and one (1) yearsof experience as a construction or maintenance trades at similar levels, or anequivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • GOAA automobile (when assigned to mail position)
  • Two-way radios
  • Basic knowledge of essential safety equipment and protective devices
  • Must be capable of properly operating field communications equipment
  • Must be able to use basic hand tools and small power tools safely
  • Valid Florida driver’s license
