Job Summary
The candidate will work on the HOPE HOME Policing Study. Incumbent will, under the direction of a Project Manager, engaged in activities including:
- Conduct structured and semi-structured interviews in person and over the telephone with participants in English and Spanish
- Conduct ethnographic observations in the field
- Code qualitative interview transcripts
- Analyze data to identify themes and patterns
- Manage and extract data through REDCAP and similar data capture instruments with support from Senior Analysts
- Contribute to data interpretation
- Ability to distill complex data into meaningful summaries, reports, and visuals
- Conduct weekly data cleaning activities
- Keep study databases updated
- Call participants and send reminder letters to maintain retention rates
- Conduct field tracking locating participants
- Management of study petty cash for participant payments
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $69,000 - $100,200 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Fluency in Spanish – speaking and reading
- Valid CA drivers’ license
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, to work effectively with study participants, study investigators, staff at site, community advisory board and other stakeholders.
- Strong skills to interpret and communicate complex data in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Applicant must have experience working with populations living in poverty and those facing health disparities and/or aging populations,
- Applicant must be willing and comfortable to participate in data collection activities in places including homeless encampments and shelters, study field sites in West and East Oakland, participant homes, and coffee shops
- Ability to either drive (will reimburse for travel costs) to locations for tracking participants.
- Proficiency to use personal computers and software such as Word, Excel and Access, and various Data Capture programs effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new software programs as required.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- A demonstrated ability to follow strict study and office procedures and protocols
- Demonstrated ability to collect, record, and analyze data accurately, including excellent data entry and data cleaning skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a work environment.
- A demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability.
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement in responding to issues and concerns that arise during research activities or communications, maintain a professional demeanor, and escalating issues when the situation calls for it
- Applicant must be willing and comfortable to participate in conducting field ethnographic visits
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Public Health or Policy or related field and / or equivalent experience / training
- Experience conducting semi-structured interviews
- Experience coding interviews using Dedoose or similar software
- Experience using RedCap
- Experience conducting structured interviews
License/Certification
