Working arrangements
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Glasgow 2026 Accessibility and Inclusion Strategy in alignment with Games-wide sustainability and legacy objectives.
- Advise leadership on accessibility compliance, legislation, and best practice (including the Equality Act 2010 and BS 8300 standards).
- Embed accessibility principles into all operational planning, including transport, accommodation, venues, technology, communications, and ceremonies.
- Conduct accessibility audits and reviews across all Games venues and overlay plans.
- Provide expert input on accessible design, wayfinding, seating, and crowd management.
- Collaborate with architects, venue teams, and event planners to deliver barrier-free environments.
- Ensure Games websites, mobile apps, ticketing systems, and digital content meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
- Support accessible communications, signage, and public information campaigns.
- Engage with local and national disability organisations, advocacy groups, and accessibility experts.
- Act as the primary liaison between the Organising Company and the Accessibility Advisory Group.
- Build partnerships to enhance the Games’ accessibility legacy in Scotland.
- Support accessibility planning for athlete villages, transport networks, and spectator services.
- Develop accessibility training materials for staff and volunteers.
- Oversee accessibility operations during Games-time, coordinating response teams and issue resolution.
- Establish and track accessibility KPIs and reporting frameworks.
- Capture lessons learned to inform future major events and local community projects.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Proven experience managing accessibility or inclusion programs for major events, venues, or public infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards, legislation, and inclusive design principles.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
- Passionate advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Experience working on international or multi-sport events.
- Knowledge of accessible transport planning or spectator services.
- Lived experience of disability or strong engagement with the disability community.
- Familiarity with sustainability and legacy frameworks for major events
