JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Hospital Services Supervisor and the Director of Hospital Services, the Hospital Resource Coordinator (HRC) is responsible for representing TOSA in all regional hospitals and with partnering organizations to maximize the potential for organ donation. The HRC takes primary accountability for education in their assigned hospitals as well as education within nursing schools, EMS teams, hospice organizations and with law enforcement while playing an active role in supporting all regional hospitals with various aspects of the organ donation process to achieve successful outcomes in donation that follow best practices. This is achieved through the collaborative efforts with TOSA’s external and internal partners.
WORK SCHEDULE: The Hospital Resource Coordinator is a full-time position. Normal office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The employee may occasionally have to work evenings or weekends as needed.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Coordinates the submission of Death Record Reviews from all regional hospitals to TOSA Quality Department.
- Oversees the donation process at assigned hospitals, including the provision of annual education and distribution of annual data reports.
- Serves as a liaison between TOSA Hospital Services Staff and TOSA Quality staff regarding hospital data and process errors.
- Assists all Hospital Services Staff in the region with Hospital Agreement creation, updates and distribution.
- Partners with Communications Coordinators in the assigned region to provide donation education on the organ donation process to nursing schools, local EMS, hospice organizations and medical associations/groups, etc.
- Assists Hospital Services Coordinators with events related to National Donate life month and HRSA DoNation Campaign with assigned hospitals.
- Coordinates with other TOSA departments and team members to hold an annual luncheon honoring donor champions in the region.
- Documents hospital interactions timely and accurately within the OPO’s database.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years prior relevant work experience.
- Degree in healthcare (paramedicine, nursing, respiratory therapy) or related fields, hospital experience preferred.
- Ability to perform operational planning and focused strategy development to achieve organizational objectives.
- Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills; must be able to function well under potentially stressful circumstances due to the nature of the interactions required.
- Working knowledge of or ability to learn basic computer skills and electronic medical records.
- Experience with and ability to learn and apply problem-solving tools/methodologies.
- Valid driver license and proof of insurability for auto insurance, as some travel is required on a moderate to frequent basis (by personal or company vehicle, and/or commercial aircraft).
- Physical requirements include ability to lift at least 50lbs.
