- Elicits and documents thoroughly, all personal and medical history of the patient as well as indications for the testing procedures to be performed.
- Completes testing, accurately documents results of testing, and prepares data for physician interpretation
- Explains procedures in terms patient can understand. Answers patient and family questions to elicit cooperation and relieve apprehension.
- Informs physician immediately regarding pertinent medical information and/or findings whether prior to, during, or post procedure.
- Recognizes arrhythmias/acute patient conditions and responds quickly anticipating needs of patient/physician. Performs in calm, professional manner. Works under the direction of RN and/or physician, in emergency situation.
- Demonstrates knowledge regarding medication and treatment protocols.
- Assists physicians/co-workers in the performance of diagnostic testing procedures promoting team concept to insure best possible patient outcomes. Rotates to various diagnostic testing procedures and duties within the department. Assists, as needed, with procedures not routinely performed.
- Exceptional Skills and Qualifications
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology to pinpoint area of imaging
• Skills in operating ultrasound equipment
• Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with patients and medical staff
• Ability to adapt easily and appropriately apply guidelines and procedures
• Demonstrate teamwork and strong communication skill
• Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred - License : (RDCS or RCS credentialed in ECHO and RVT or RCS credentialed in vascular sonography. For those
not registered upon entering the job, they must secure credentialing through ARDMS within 18 months of employment.)
