Job Summary:
As a Clinician with our Transitional Aged Youth Outpatient Program, you’ll work with diverse youth and young adults, providing intervention for their mental and emotional health in community-based settings.
You’ll work with a team to guide therapeutic interventions while providing services such as assessment, treatment planning, and individual therapy. You’ll do all of this while being guided and supported by licensed behavioral health supervisors.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete intakes into services.
- Assess client needs related to multiple areas of their lives, including diagnosis and clinical impressions.
- Create personalized care plans with clients and treatment team to support recovery and build skills.
- Provide case management and connect clients and their natural supports with helpful resources to improve daily life.
- Provide therapeutic treatment, primarily through individual therapy.
- Communicate regularly with other care providers to coordinate client support.
- Mentor support staff in providing additional behavioral health support to clients including skills development, behavioral intervention, and case management.
- Provide crisis intervention services and supports to program clients and agency young adults seeking support during program hours.
- Participate in after-hours on-call crisis rotation for one week every 2-3 months (additional stipend provided).
- Complete all required client documentation in the electronic health record following agency and county standards.
- Meet the minimum for billable service time (45%).
- Manage your own schedule to effectively balance client appointments and other tasks during your work hours.
- Provide services in the community, including traveling to clients' homes, schools, or other locations and provide clients with transportation as needed.
- Attend required meetings and training.
- Participate in activities to improve quality and safety.
- Keep the work area clean and report any maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
- Regular attendance is essential for this job.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Masters Degree in Behavioral Science (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, etc.); minimum one year related experience and/or training; registered (or eligible/ in process to be registered) with BBS as an APCC, ASW, or AMFT.
- Applicants with additional Medi-Cal experience, progress toward licensure, and/or licensed as an LPCC, LCSW, or LMFT will also be considered for positions as Clinician 2 or Licensed Clinician and are encouraged to apply.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bilingual communication skills (Spanish/English) are highly desired.
- Ability to work well with a variety of diverse adolescents and young adults.
- Understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to document activities related to services provided.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and families.
- Ability to participate effectively in group discussions and meetings.
- Must have a valid California driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle with current insurance that can be used for company business.
- Personal cellular phone that can be used for company business.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification required (or complete within 30 days of hire).
- Pass a background check and fingerprinting.
- Pass a TB test.
- Basic math skills to track hours, productivity, and expenses for reimbursement.
- Ability to solve practical problems using instructions and resources available in written, verbal, diagram and/or spreadsheet formats.
- Ability to remain calm in escalated situations.
- Intermediate computer skills required, including learning new software and applications.
- Ability to effectively develop and maintain a schedule of weekly activities and meetings that balances multiple priorities.
Physical Demands:
- Drive to client location and offices.
- Complete documentation on paper and on the computer, and make phone calls.
- Navigate a variety of community locations which may include client homes, community centers, and outdoor settings including unpaved surfaces and inclement weather.
Work Environment:
- Office setting is in an urban environment. Free onsite parking is available.
- Office setting are historical buildings with access via multiple stairways. Separate office space with no stairs are available or staff can be accommodated at a different location that also serves our behavioral health clients.
- Office setting includes unassigned and shared workspaces, with assigned laptop computer.
- Noise levels may vary from minimal to loud depending on where work is being done that day.
Salary Range:
$82,000 per year
