Position Overview
The Dietary Supervisor provides direct supervision to kitchen staff and oversees all aspects of food service operations. This includes menu planning, record-keeping, budgeting, staff training, and meal service oversight.
This is a hands-on, administrative and leadership role that occasionally includes cooking as needed.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Philadelphia Senior Center, Avenue of the Arts
Essential Responsibilities
Ensure all meals meet the Senior Nutrition Program Dietary Guidelines
Supervise kitchen staff and maintain compliance with local health codes
Order food and supplies in a timely manner based on menu requirements
Maintain accurate inventory, labeling, and rotation of all food and supplies
Prepare and submit attendance records, consumption reports, and monthly statistics
Develop and oversee kitchen schedules and monitor employee attendance and performance
Identify and coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance
Ensure sanitation, quality, and safety standards are upheld across all food service areas
Participate in meetings, trainings, and program development activities
Perform cooking or service duties when necessary
Qualifications
ServSafe Certification (Manager & Handler) required
Minimum 2 years of experience in food service management (healthcare, restaurant, or institutional setting)
Knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and safety standards
Ability to supervise and train staff and volunteers
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
Ability to work independently with good judgment
CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
Familiarity with geriatric nutrition and senior services preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 lbs as needed
Ability to push, pull, and reach overhead
Ability to perform kitchen and supervisory tasks on an intermittent or continuous basis
