Community Progress Council, Inc. (CPC) is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Health and Nutrition Education Specialist to join our dynamic Early Childhood Education team. In this vital role, you will champion child wellness by supporting health screenings, enrollment processes, and CACFP compliance, all while ensuring alignment with Head Start Performance Standards and regulatory guidelines. You will also lead the delivery of impactful health, nutrition, and safety education for ECE staff, children, and families — empowering our community through knowledge and care.
Responsibilities:
- Promote CPC’s mission, values, and strategic goals.
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate community health resources.
- Provide health-related training to staff and educational sessions for families.
- Support continuous quality improvement in the Health and Nutrition program.
- Develop and deliver health education materials, programs, and events.
- Manage a caseload of children, ensuring accurate and timely health documentation.
- Maintain regular communication with internal teams regarding caseload updates.
- Coordinate child health screenings in compliance with policies and deadlines.
- Analyze and report on health trends within the ECE program.
- Maintain health records and share screening results with families.
- Collaborate across departments to deliver integrated health and nutrition education.
- Monitor CACFP compliance and maintain organized documentation.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and cross-functional support activities.
- Build strong relationships with families during enrollment.
- Contribute to agency-wide initiatives and strategic planning efforts.
- Maintain partnerships with health providers and co-facilitate the HMSAC.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Public Health, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience (or 3 years with an associate’s degree in a related field)
- Prior experience in training or health education preferred
- Current Pennsylvania health professional license or credential preferred
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification preferred (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
- Ability to perform all essential duties effectively and in alignment with CPC’s mission and goals
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment

- Strong foundation in public health, human services, or a related discipline
- Experience in health education, training, or community outreach
- Familiarity with Head Start Performance Standards and CACFP regulations

- Proficient in data analysis and identifying health trends
- Effective communicator with diverse populations, including families and staff
- Knowledge of pediatric health, child development, and community health resources
- Commitment to quality improvement and cross-functional collaboration
- Reliable transportation is required, along with the ability to travel to satellite locations
