Runkle Homework Center Teacher (Grades 6-8) at Brookline Public Schools

Schedule:

• Days: Mondays and Thursdays

• Time: 2:45 PM – 3:30 PM (45 minutes per session)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Homework Center Teacher to support middle school students (Grades 6–8) during after-school homework sessions. The Homework Center Teacher will create a structured, quiet environment that fosters academic focus, organizational skills, and independent work habits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support students in Grades 6–8 during Homework Center hours.

• Help students stay organized by checking their binders and daily planners for accuracy and completeness.

• Provide assistance with homework tasks as needed, encouraging understanding and completion.

• Maintain a quiet and productive environment conducive to learning.

• Monitor student behavior and academic engagement during the session.

• Communicate and check in with classroom teachers as needed to follow up on assignments or student progress.

• Encourage students to develop effective study and time-management habits.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with middle school students, preferably in an academic support or classroom setting.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to manage a small group of students in a focused environment.

• Patience, consistency, and a supportive approach to academic guidance.
