Job Summary: 

The HR Business Partner works under the direction of the Manager of Employee Relations to embed corporate HR strategy and align business objectives with employees and management within designated Business Units (BU). The HR Business Partner serves as a consultant to support business groups with high-level employee relations, internal investigations, training, reporting and working with business unit on staffing levels when needed. The HR Business Partner delivers a positive work environment by modelling Goodwill’s mission and citizenship behaviors at all times.

 

The HR Business Partner is expected to:

  • Act as the BU consultant with line management and leaders, providing HR guidance when appropriate on HR matters including employee mediation, emergency response, recruiting and onboarding, retention and performance management.
  • Provide day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention.
  • Build strong business relationships with internal clients while identifying gaps and proposing change to cover risks.
  • Facilitate management team to bring successful solutions for employees, while driving performance improvement and positive changes with people managements and leadership.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues.
  • Maintain high level comprehension of designated BU operations and processes.
  • Analyze BU trends and metrics to aid in strategic decision making.
  • Attend all BU meetings at a district level and above, all HR meetings and other BU meetings as requested.
  • Work with managers and employees regularly providing HR policy guidance and interpretation as needed.
  • Maintain base level knowledge of HR related information (Labor/Employment Law, Recruiting/Onboarding/Retention practices, Payroll/benefits regulations and policies).
  • Act as facilitator for all HR trainings supporting business units such as performance management, citizenship behaviors workshops and Great Tools training for new managers.
  • Prepare and present HR reports for meetings to assist in aligning business unit with HR strategy and agency strategic plan.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, HR management, or comparable experience.
  • 3+ years experience in Human Resources
  • 2+ years experience as an HR Business Partner, Employee Relations Specialist, or related role demonstrating experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • 1+ year management or leadership role.
  • 1+ year experience with HRIS systems demonstrating data and reporting capabilities.
  • Ability to travel across Northern New England.
  • Successful completion of a background check that meets Agency standards.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and insurance that meets Agency standards.
