About the Department

Under the supervision of the First Assistant Pro/Golf Shop Manager, the Golf Cart Attendant assists with golf operations to include staging, cleaning, and care of the golf cart fleet at Quail Creek Golf Course. The employee also performs minor maintenance and cleaning duties for the driving range and hitting area and restrooms on the course. The employee provides sand and sand bottles for carts and sand stations on the course for customers and patrons use. The employee also collects and empties trash and all recycle material from the clubhouse. This job is considered safety sensitive and subject to a pre-employment background check and random drug screenings.

Position Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   The following list was developed through a job analysis; however, it is not exhaustive and other duties may be required and assigned.  A person with a disability which is covered by the ADA must be able to perform the essential functions of the job unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Golf Carts.  Stages, cleans, maintains, and drives golf carts to provide ample availability of golf carts for all patrons, members, and guests. 
 

  1. Maintains and replenishes cart staging area with fresh and clean golf carts for all daily play, league play, shotgun starts, tournaments, etc. as needed and directed by the golf shop staff.
  2. Provides minor maintenance on golf carts to include inflating tires with air gauge and read air gauge for proper tire pressure
  3. Uses hand-held radio or walkie-talkie to communicate with the clubhouse; apprises employees of any pertinent or safety issues.
  4. Drives golf cart to various locations on the course in a safe and professional manner.
  5. Assists golf shop staff, snack bar/grill staff and golf course maintenance staff as required to benefit the golf operation and its patrons.
  6. Aligns ropes to assist patrons in hitting range balls to the center of the driving range with respect to safety.
  7. Picks up and fills sand buckets and sand bottle dispenser and keeps full at all times for the golf carts and golf cart staging area. 
  8. Places score cards, pencils, and sand bottles in all golf carts for patrons. 
  9. Counts all golf carts and golf vehicles stored at the golf cart barn at the end of a shift.
  10. Reports any damages, lost or stolen carts or equipment to golf course vehicles or golf carts. 
  11. Drives a golf cart and other turf related vehicles such as beverage cart, gator, sand pro or small maintenance type vehicles.as may be required to assist with golf operations.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Golf Course and Facility Operations.  Performs duties such as gathering and washing balls, making course inspections, and providing a clean and appealing golf environment to ensure a safe and pleasant experience for all customers.
 
  1. Picks up driving range balls, wash range balls and fill range dispenser.
  2. Inspects the driving range to assist in facilitating a nice hitting area.
  3. Adjusts and moves ropes to promote quality turf for patrons to practice.
  4. Picks up range baskets and any un-usual debris from the hitting area.
  5. Keeps bag stands clean and in alignment to provide a professional look and act in compliance with safety protocol.
  6. Empties waste, trash, and re-cycle material from clubhouse to proper trash storage sites at the golf maintenance department.
  7. Keeps the work area clean and neat at all times to promote an efficient and organized golf facility. 
  8. Reports any suspicious or un-usual behavior, fishing, trespassing, joggers, etc. on the course that is not golf related.
  9. Returns any lost and found items left behind by any golf patron or employee to the golf shop.
  10. Finds players or groups on course to assist.
  11. Locks the facility and makes secure at the end of a shift.
 
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
 
Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  2. Minimum of one (1) year previous work experience at a golf course.
  3. Possess a current and valid driver’s license and be insurable.
  4. Ability to work non-standard work hours.
  5. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and an initial drug screen.

  19. Ability to drive a golf cart and other turf related vehicles such as beverage cart, gator, sand pro or small maintenance type vehicles.

Physical Demands 
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities; recurring lifting moderately heavy items such as record boxes.  The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.
 
Work Environment
The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; with contagious diseases or irritant chemicals, etc.  Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.
