Route Service Technician 

The Route Service Technician is primarily responsible for operating a company truck and driving to various customer locations to do any or all the following: deliver, pick up, maintain, service, or repair portable restrooms, hand sinks, holding tanks or any asset assigned. The Route Service Technician may exercise these duties on a daily route, a daily pick-up and delivery schedule, a yard/shop assistant or during a special event. This position is exposed to extreme weather conditions and unpleasant odors and sights. The hours and physical demand may vary by task. Stallion is a team environment and at any time a Route Service Technician may be asked to help in a different department with different tasks. MUST HAVE VALID TWIC CARD.

 

Route Driver Accountability:

  • Operates truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Maintains a clean truck inside and out.
  • Performs daily pre and post trip inspections as set forth by Stallions procedures and D.O.T. guidelines.  Major concerns should be brought to the Branch Manager without delay.
  • Must follow all Stallions Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and General Standards.
  • Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service-related issues to the dispatch office who will determine course of action.
  • Perform all task assigned by Field Service Manager, including but not limited to delivery and pick up of rental equipment, restocking trucks, organizing shop, organizing yard, helping in a different department or responding to emergency calls in a timely manner.
  • Provides service for customers’ portable restroom(s) or related asset(s) by following consistently Stallions Service Steps each time a service is performed.
  • Must keep work areas in yard clean and organized and notify Branch Manager if a hazard is recognized.
  • Responsible for communicating with Branch Manager on items that can hinder a job i.e., low inventory, keys, chemicals, supplies etc.
  • Responsible for communicating with office staff regarding items that can hinder a job.
  • Submits all route information and paperwork to the office at end of each shift.
  • Utilizes dispatching software for routing, documenting photos, logs customer concerns etc.
  • Professional interaction with employees and customers is always required.
  • Provides distinguishably different level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service in all aspects of operation to the general public and customers. All contact is to be documented using routing software tablet provided in real time during the route day.
  • Answers questions for customers and directs them to contact office for additional information.
  • Provide routing feedback to office and Dispatcher to be most efficient as well as giving the customer the best service possible.
  • Uniforms are expected to be always worn.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to read, operate and understand an electronic map/gps/dispatching system utilizing a phone or iPad.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing).
  • General knowledge of mechanics of trucks.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with WSI staff and customers.
  • Ability to pull a trailer preferred.
  • Waste industry experience preferred.

 

Work Environment

  • Works in a variety of environment conditions, including wide temperature and weather variations including heat, cold, snow, rain, wind; noise and vibrations, fumes, odors and dust.
  • Exposure to human waste is possible.
  • Possible exposure to high traffic conditions while outside of the vehicle.
  • This position is outdoors and/or driving GPS monitored vehicle
  • Physically able to push, or pull independently (unassisted) 50 pounds between 25 and 50 times a day
  • Physically able to lift independently (unassisted) 50 pounds from the ground to waist height between 25 and 50 times a day
  • Physically able to get up and down from the cab of a commercial motor vehicle between 30 and 50 times a day
  • Physically able to lift with assistance (helper) 100 pounds between 20 and 30 times a day
  • Physically able to bend at the waist and knees between 120-150 times in a day
  • Physically able to reach overhead and pull down using 20 pounds of force and secure a tarp
  • Physically able to climb up to 8 feet in height to deploy a 25-pound tarp
  • Physically able to work 8 to 12 hours in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain and snow.)

 

Position Qualifications

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Experience: 1-year previous commercial driving experience preferred
  • Possess a valid driver license
  • MUST HAVE VALID TWIC CARD
  • ISTC Training is a plus 
  • Drug-Free, must pass a drug test and background screen.
  • Route Service Technicians are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Stallion
  • Understand waste collection policies, procedures, guidelines and practices; understanding of Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.
  • Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction; See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
