Location: This position is a hybrid role based out of our Minneapolis, MN office. The current expectation is that we are in office two days each week (Tuesday-Wed), with extra additional days as required during the month. 

Overview:  The Principal Market Research Analyst will lead the strategic development and execution of comprehensive market research initiatives, focusing on advanced competitive intelligence, market forecasting, and healthcare sector trends. This role is pivotal in shaping long-term business strategies, guiding product innovation, and maintaining a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving industry. Directly supports executive decision-making by delivering deep insights and forward-looking market analyses. May supervise work of vendors who may be assisting on projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior leadership to manage and/or coordinate advanced market research and competitive intelligence projects to better understand and improve the company's strategic position.
  • Resourcefully collect and analyze secondary and primary research data that supports market opportunity, market trend, and competitive landscape assessments. Distill and synthesize conclusions and communicate them clearly and compellingly.
  • Maintain and utilize advanced competitive intelligence tools to develop forecasts and strategic insights that keep the company ahead of industry shifts.
  • Lead the strategic analysis of market trends to anticipate changes in the healthcare sector, providing actionable insights that inform product development and market strategies.
  • Manage survey incentives procurement and distribution for market research projects.
  • Recruit and/or interview customers and prospects to learn about their experience and attitudes about healthcare technology.
  • Develop and implement sophisticated models for market forecasting and scenario planning to predict future market dynamics and company positioning.
  • Proactively recommend research process improvements to elevate the market research and competitive intelligence functions at the company.
  • Exhibits strong knowledge of the healthcare industry and an ability to stay current with industry trends and events impacting the portfolio.
  • Stays current on market research tools – existing and emerging – to bring forward new ideas for keeping a strong pulse on the market which influences how market research is conducted.
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures, and mission statement.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position.
  • Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Company.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of previous work experience in a Market Research or Competitive Intelligence role involving hands-on project work; combination of corporate and vendor/consulting side experience a plus.
  • Previous experience and familiarity with quantitative and/or qualitative market research methodology.
  • Solid analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and advanced analytics software (e.g., SPSS, Q, Python).
  • Expert knowledge in competitive intelligence tools, such as Crayon, and experience in healthcare technology market analysis.
  • Expertise/aptitude in online survey programming.
  • Exceptional analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with cross functional staff, management, and senior executives.
  • A team player with a positive can-do attitude who loves to learn and who brings analytical and creative thinking to the job.

Education:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Market Research, Business, and/or Healthcare.
  • Graduate degree in Business, Statistics/Analytics, Marketing, or related field preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Sedentary work (i.e., sitting for long periods of time).
  • Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions.
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions.
  • Travel for this position will include less than 5% if necessary.

In addition to the base compensation, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Inovalon, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.

Base Compensation Range
$126,000$172,800 USD
