We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Manager of Systems Engineering to lead our systems engineering team in the design, development, and deployment of advanced unmanned systems and munitions. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you will oversee a team of systems engineers and drive the strategic application of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless integration of complex systems, fostering innovation, and aligning engineering efforts with business objectives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise in MBSE, a proven track record of team leadership, and a passion for mentoring the next generation of engineers.
Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing systems engineering team, including hiring, performance management, and professional development. Guide junior and senior engineers in MBSE best practices, ensuring knowledge transfer and inclusive collaboration.
- Develop and implement systems engineering strategies that align with company goals, including roadmaps for product innovation, system architecture, and integration of families of unmanned systems and munitions.
- Champion systems engineering practices and Cameo Systems Modeler to create, manage, and refine system models. Oversee the definition, enhancement, and verification of system requirements using MBSE methodologies.
- Direct comprehensive data analysis, troubleshooting, and risk mitigation efforts across projects, leveraging analytical skills to resolve interdisciplinary challenges.
- Partner with R&D, manufacturing, program management, and external stakeholders to ensure system synergy, participate in design reviews, and facilitate technical meetings.
- Drive product line innovation, evaluate emerging technologies, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality in systems engineering.
Qualifications
Basic expectations for this role include a minimum of,
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in model-based systems engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Deep expertise in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), aircraft, and/or munitions, including system design, integration, and testing.
- Advanced proficiency in Cameo Systems Modeler.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams, mentor staff, and foster an inclusive, collaborative environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with experience in high-stakes, deadline-driven projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Our ideal candidate has,
- Master's degree in in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Group 1-4 UAS systems engineering
- Certification in Systems Engineering (e.g., INCOSE CSEP)
- Knowledge of US DOD Weapons GRA and WOSA
