About the Department
The Parks Department is looking to hire one individual to join us as a Parks Technician II - Mowing.
Regular hours are Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Hours could vary based on weather and department needs.
This is a part-time position budgeted for 1,560 hours and includes health insurance. Please see the Benefits tab for details.
The Parks Technician II performs a range of unskilled to skilled tasks in maintaining the City and County’s parks, greenbelts, athletic fields, and cemetery. Primary responsibilities include operating equipment for mowing, trimming, and edging turf areas, as well as assisting with general park maintenance. The role also involves providing helpful information and assistance to staff and members of the public. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and contributing to the upkeep of our community spaces.
Position Duties

Skill in understanding and responding to customer needs
Ability to analyze and solve technical problems pertaining to respective specialty area within the Park Division
Skill in the routine operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and tools used in assigned maintenance operations
Assists in the operation of snow plows during inclement weather, and is available for snow control duties after hours and on weekends.
Daily monitoring of conditions and making decisions.
Supervises seasonal maintenance crew and assists with performance appraisals.
Assists training seasonal employees.
Ensures proper maintenance and routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma/GED - required
Experience
1 year experience required in parks maintenance
1 year experience preferred in supervision of seasonal labor, volunteers, or part time positions
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (in addition to above requirements):
New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, and background checks, which may include local police check and sex-offender registry. If this position is required to drive a CCOB vehicle a DMV check will be required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment.

Duties require a full range of physical motion and activities including manual Labor.
Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekend and holiday work required
Required On-Call responsibilities.
Assists in the operation of snow equipment during inclement weather, and is available for snow control duties after hours and on weekends.
Required to work special events on holidays, weekends, and outside normally scheduled working hours
Regular contact is made with employees in other departments and the public.
