Job Summary

The Associate Royalties Analyst is responsible for managing all aspects of royalty statement processing and payout for the company’s music publishing clients. This role ensures accurate and timely ingestion, reconciliation, and distribution of royalties by cross-checking third-party statements against the company’s catalog data. This role collaborates closely with the publishing administration team to allocate royalties to the correct songwriters and proactively resolves data discrepancies to maintain accurate royalty reporting and payments.

Responsibilities

  • Download and process all incoming publishing royalty statements from external sources (e.g., collection societies, sub-publishers, and DSPs)
  • Match reported works to the company’s catalog to confirm ownership and ensure accurate payment allocation
  • Identify and document missing or unmatched titles; prepare clear reports summarizing discrepancies or incomplete data
  • Proactively obtain missing information from licensors, administrators, or internal departments to complete statement processing
  • Allocate and reconcile royalties to the appropriate writers, shares, and territories in coordination with the publishing admin team
  • Process additional publishing-related payments, including pass-through royalties, invoices, and ad-hoc client payments
  • Maintain organized and auditable records of royalty statements, payment reports, and supporting documentation
  • Assist in preparing payout summaries and internal financial reports for management review
  • Support system updates and data cleanup to improve statement processing efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in music publishing, royalties, or rights administration preferred
  • Strong knowledge of music publishing, royalty collection, and industry payment practices
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, etc.)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in handling complex financial data
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities; able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using royalty accounting or rights management software preferred

Pay Scale

  • $55,000 - $60,000 CAD per year
  • The final compensation within this range will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and overall fit for the role.
