About the Department

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Community Health Worker I in both the Public Health & Preventive Care Division.

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Community Health Worker I in the Public Health & Preventive Care Division. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies through out the District in this classification for up to four (4) months.

All new hires will have a starting salary of $21.57 per hour, which is non-negotiable. 

The current vacancy is in the Sexual Health Outreach & Prevention Program.

This recruitment will close on or before the date list above, once a sufficient number of qualified applicants have been identified.

This position is funded by a grant and the continuation of the position depends on the availability of grant funds and the business requirements of SNHD. If the funding is discontinued or becomes unavailable, your employment may be terminated without the right to appeal.  
 
To provide services that increase health knowledge, self-sufficiency, and support self-management of diseases and health conditions to assigned clients/families through a range of activities such as outreach, health education, connecting individuals with resources, informal counseling, social/peer support and advocacy. To support providers, health educators, and case management teams through an integrated approach to care management and community outreach.

Position Duties

Education and Training: 
  • Equivalent to graduation from high school .
Experience: 
  • Preferred: minimum of one year of experience in non-profit/community advocacy work or completion of Community Health Worker training .
  • Prior experience in medical record keeping desirable
  • CHW Certification is preferred 

License/Certification:
  • Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver's License as a condition of employment

Desirable Qualifications:
CHW Certification is preferred
