Job Description:Take ownership of the requirements management process for complex aerospace systems that play a critical role in aircraft safety and performance. At ALTEN, we’re supporting advanced actuation system development where requirements traceability, validation, and system integrity are key to success. As a Systems Engineer, you’ll drive the definition, flow-down, and verification of system requirements across the full V-lifecycle, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure every function performs as intended — from concept to certification.
Location: Wolverhampton (on-site 3 days per week)
Experience Level: 5+ years in Systems Engineering with Requirements Management
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, author, and manage system-level requirements for complex electromechanical systems
- Ensure traceability, validation, and verification across the full systems lifecycle (V-Model)
- Support design reviews, configuration control, and system-level integration activities
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to ensure system coherence
- Maintain high-quality documentation and manage requirements baselines within DOORS 9.X
- Contribute to continuous improvement of systems engineering processes within a safety-critical aerospace environment
Required Skills:
- Proven background in Systems Engineering and Requirements Management
- Experience authoring and tracing requirements using IBM DOORS.
- Understanding of V-model development lifecycles and system validation methods
- Degree or hands-on experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Familiarity with aerospace or safety-critical product development
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of actuation, landing gear, or flight control systems
- Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo or Rhapsody
- Experience working to aerospace or defence standards (ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-160, MIL-STD, etc.)
- Strong stakeholder communication skills and a structured, systems-thinking mindset
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (or related discipline)
- OR relevant technical military background with equivalent hands-on systems engineering experience
