Job Description:Purpose of the Job:
The Quality Engineer reports directly to the QHSE Manager with responsibility for ownership of all product certification requirements.
Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:
- Responsible for ensuring that product certification is up to date and available when required including but not limited to: ATEX, IECEx, PED, UL, CSA, WRAS, IEC61508, CCC – Chinese compulsory Certification.
- Assisting with training in different standards and certification requirements to support the business
- Working with 3rd party certification agencies to obtain new/updated certifications and arranging 3rd party testing when required
- Support engineering and product management in researching certifications required for new products, including generation of supporting plans for introduction, as required
- Ownership of 3rd party audits of product/business certifications
- Working with Production to ensure that certification requirements to support Sales Orders can be generated and processed effectively
- Maintain the certification and standards databases to ensure that the required certificates/standards are available and in the correct locations.
- Maintain a register so that the applicable certification is visible and available for each product type, extending to generating customer-facing documentation to describe current certifications
- Review of updates to standards including notifying the authorised person of the implications of any changes to any product certificates/standards are made
- Generate any sales-related certification or documentation requirements, with particular focus on automating this activity, wherever practicable
- Support investigations, training, awareness, problem (i.e. customer, supplier, or product quality) investigation and KPI reporting activities, as required by senior management.
- Internal auditing of key processes to confirm adherence and identification of areas for further enhancement
- Continually seek and implement improvement opportunities related to scope of responsibility or other quality engineering activities
- Deputise for the QHSE Manager as required
Qualifications:
Qualifications & Technical knowledge
Essential:
- Strong understanding of industry product certificates and standards.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant quality experience
- Strong analytical skills and an ability to generate measures and reports to support decision making.
- Understanding of various quality tools and methodologies i.e. PPAP, CAPA methodology, 8D problem solving, 5 Why’s, SPC, 6 Sigma (DMAIC), Lean Analysis, Pareto charts and statistical data
- Experience working in a prescriptive working environment; Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Automotive, Nuclear, Project, or Infrastructure.
- Experience utilising Lean Six Sigma techniques and methodology to improve operational performance
- Experience operating MRP/ERP systems
