The Permits Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the acquisition of necessary permits and approvals for the project, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves liaising with relevant authorities, overseeing documentation, and facilitating the timely processing of applications to support smooth project delivery.

The Project
The project includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels, seawater intake system, a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, groundwater system, drinking water storage and pump system, supported by civil, electrical and bulk earthworks.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support daily management of the Permit to Work process and general office duties.
  • Review and process construction permit applications, ensuring accurate data entry into the central database.
  • Ensure Risk Assessments are task-specific, approved by HSE, and relevant to each activity.
  • Coordinate with applicants to verify documentation is complete and appropriate for each task.
  • Facilitate timely approvals by ensuring permits are reviewed by the correct discipline approvers.
  • Maintain accurate records of permits, correspondence, and safety inspections in the central database.
  • Conduct site walks and audits to verify compliance with permit control measures.
  • Manage training bookings, maintain authorisation records, and deliver basic training on permit processes.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Attention to detail for reviewing applications, risk assessments, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Strong communication to liaise with stakeholders and ensure clarity in documentation.
  • Organisational ability to manage databases, coordinate training, and process permits efficiently.
  • Understanding of safety procedures to support risk assessment reviews and site audits.
  • Capability to deliver and coordinate basic training on permit processes.

Required Experience

  • Experience managing Permit to Work systems, including reviewing applications and coordinating approvals.
  • Background in conducting site audits and ensuring compliance with safety and permit procedures.
  • Familiarity with training coordination, including maintaining records and delivering basic procedural training.
